Zobo’s Revenge

 Zobo’s Revenge

Zobo the robot was manning Olivia’s Cupcake Cafe’.

His main job was to rotate the server tray, over and over again. That got a little boring, after the first three or four hours of slowly spinning the tray. Olivia demanded a speed of 3 and 3/4 rotations per minute. She was pretty strict about that speed.

He also manned the kitchen. His job there was to wash the cake-making utensils. He secretly dreamt of the day he would be promoted to operating the cupcake- dispensing machine. In the meantime, Zobo amused himself with his own astute observations about the Cupcake Cafe’s revolving cast of regulars.

About ten o’clock, Rex’s would arrive on top of his Execu-Rex-o-saurus, with one of the plantimals aboard. Rex was a big time customer. He was always standing on the raptor’s head, in order to lick the giant strawberry which adorned the roof of the Cupcake Cafe’. Rex was thoroughly convinced that was funny.

Then in walked the skunk from the Fire Plane Set.He never bought, he only looked, until Emma dispensed him some crumbs from the cupcake dispenser.

The next customer were Hanzo and Genji, from Hanzo vs. Genji. Genji’s nonchalant attitude towards the proper ways of handling his Ryu-Ichimonji sword chafed Zobo’s righteous soul. But, after all, the customer is always right. Zobo twirled the serving plate a little faster than the recommended speed.

The first customer for the lunch trade that day was Jasmine, who was brought her Petite Tower with her, as usual. Zobo perked up when she arrived. She was one of his favorites.

Zobo borrowed Rex’s stud shooter to shoot some cupcakes over to Jasmine. She stored them in her P.T. Tower, and then produced her purple perfume bottle with the ruby stopper. She hopped aboard Olivia’s scooter and whizzed behind the Cupcake Cafe. Whereupon she sprinkled perfume all over Zobo.

    “Thanks, Sweetie.”

     “Hard Morning?”

“The Usual. Nothing I couldn’t handle. But it’s always good to see you.”

“Back tomorrow!” Jasmine laughed, and returning the scooter to Olivia, started pushing her PT Tower away, taking the high point of Zobo’s day with her.

Then an unexpected customer stepped up: good ol’  Voltron. He could really pack those cupcakes away. He ended up cleaning them out of product. He bought out the entire serving tray, which he also bought, and ate.

So they closed early and sang karaoke at Andrea’s Talent Show. Zobo manned the judging panel. He voted by banging the green voting button with his binocular eyes. He gave Olivia and Emma failing grades. Zobo proved to be a very demanding and vindictive judge.
