Tower Block

 TOWER BLOCK

The dog from the Duplo All-In-One-Box-Of Fun was missing from his green set container, thereby misprooving the title of Set# 10572:  All Duplo were not currently present in that one set.

The dog, whose name, by the way, was Hot Dog ( named by little Poindexter, age 2 ), was currently residing in the empty Outrider Dropship Attack Set box. Poindexter had put him into the empty box. The box was empty because Poindexter had poured the contents of that box into the artist’s studio of the Parisian Restaurant. The six armed Outriders from the Dropship set were anxious to start creating art, but, to no avail, because the artist’s easel and painting  had just been removed. Poindexter sent them afloat in the real family cat’s real water dish.

Now Poindexter was on a roll. He pulled back Bash!, and let the Technic race car go, rolling it into the  water dish. The collision sent Snowball’s dish and Bash!’s engine flying.  Then the engine was placed down the laundry chute by a pair of very small hands. Poindexter’s hands just reached the laundry chute door, when he stood on tiptoe.

Poindexter’s attention shifted to a long-forgotten LEGO set which was parked unceremoniously on a nearby shelf. Up until now, even he had ignored it. It was the  unopened Wedding Favor Set 2018 Set.  It had been bought for Aunt Mitzy and Uncle Art’s Wedding, but somehow it was forgotten...forever. That was before Poindexter was born.

Poin picked it up and deftly carried it over to the chute. He was a man on a mission. The bride and the groom and all of the contents followed Bash!’s engine down the chute.

But, do not be fooled. Little Poindexter’s work was not done. He toddled from room to room, looking for Lego which needed modification. Miraculously, the interventions he had made so far required only about two minutes of unguarded time. Meanwhile, his appointed guardian, who had signed on for an eighteen year stint in that office, also known as , “Da”, and, occasionally, “ Da-EEEE”, had convinced himself that he was awake while lying on the floor with his eyes closed.

Hot Dog decided to take matters into his own plastic paws. He didn’t care about the Wedding Set: it had been unclaimed by Aunt Mitzy and her husband, Art Scwartzensomething. The cat’s need for water held even less interest for him. In Hot Dog’s eyes, any Plight of Cats was an ill-conceived Myth. Nor was Hot Dog much of a fan of French Modern Art.

But, those six-armed Outriders did hold a special place in his Duplo heart. Two guys with six arms each meant a lot of petting, in very little time. And, that blue Infinity Stone just shouldn’t get lost under a Murphy bed! Furthermore, Hot Dog did think that Captain America and Black Widow would make a very nice couple, using the One Ring to Rule Them All as the symbol of their nuptial union, pledged in the Parisian Restaurant.

The problem was that he was stuck inside of the Outrider Dropship Attack Set Box. Hot Dog scrounched himself up and pushed the box over. The impact of the fall dislodged the Duplo dog with enough force so that he rolled into  Da’s upper lip. Da brushed off the dog, opened one eye approximately one sixteenth of an inch, and was greeted with a view of carnage and horror: Yes, Carnage’s tentacles ( from Spider-Man Bike Rescue) were being pulled off, and then used to slice butter. Poindexter worked while others still slept. Da looked at the clock: 2:47. That was, AM.

Da now took matters into his own tentacles. He sat Poin down, and started building a series of Duplo block towers which he christened, “Tower Block”. Together they used most of the 65 pieces in the All-in-one-box-of-fun Set to make, approximately, 27 block towers, ( 63 divided by 27 equals 2.333333 pieces per tower). All were knocked down. Finally, at 4:03 AM, Poin and Da settled down together in Da’s and Mom’s bed. Poindexter Slept diagonally, so as to take up the maximum amount of bed.

Denouement: Mom threw in the laundry early the next morning. She didn’t really sort it at all, because she had come upon a big spider the last time she had sorted it by hand. There was, in fact, another spider in there. It got clonked on the head by Bash!’s engine. Later, that engine was found in the lint filter of the dryer.

The unopened Wedding Favor 2018 Set survived the washer. It’s wrinkled box was finally opened. Since it was open, the family just went ahead and built it right away. Aunt Mitzy and Uncle Art were married again, in LEGO effigy.

Poindexter’s older brother Phineas was aghast to discover Poindexter’s nocturnal handiwork. He did manage to return the Outriders to their box. He also washed and saved Carnage’s tentacles. The easel and painting  from Parisian Cafe were very clean, and returned to Paris. Phineas managed to convey such loss and indignation over these events as to convince his parents to get him a Zane Dragon Master Set as a consolation.

Ultimately, Poindexter rewarded Hot Dog by dropping the Drop Ship on him, repeatedly. It was fun.

Lastly, Captain America and Black Widow are honeymooning in St. Croix.
