Corvus Glaive was failing Gym Class( again)
Corvus hated running the cross country mile in Phys Ed. Or, rather, he hated walking it, because that is what he did. He only walked. He never ran.
Everyone was so far ahead of him- even that little twerp, Dr. Fox- that he decided to sit down in the school parking lot. I can’t get any farther behind, he thought. It annoyed him that he was made to undergo this unfair test of physical stamina. Furthermore, it annoyed Cor that an eighth grader -Dr. Fox- proclaimed himself to be a doctor. That meant the so-called doctor had completed 7 years of medical school, so he must have started college when he was 6, right?
The parking lot was full of teachers’ old junky cars, mostly Honda’s. Really full parking lots also annoyed Cor. He was, in fact, easily annoyed. I mean, he was an adolescent. Just then,
Mighty Micros Thanos was getting dropped off in that parking lot by his parents. They drove a cool golden sports car.
“ Hey, new kid. Nice wheels” said Corvus.
Thanos Alars was glad some student was finally talking to him. It was the first time in the three weeks since he had entered that school that someone had a kind word for him.
He stumbled over his response which was, “ThThThThanks...”
Cor responded,”
You want to sit down in the parking lot for a while?”
“Uh, Sure, Ok.” Thanos decided that maybe this school was going to be all right. Just then, Mr. Hulkbuster, the Gym teacher, happened along and encouraged the lads to join the rest of the class in their classmates’ mid- morning frolic.
Corvus and Thanos grudgingly complied. Armed with a mutual distaste for running, a friendship began.
As they lumbered out of the parking lot onto the track, Thanos snapped his fingers. “ I just made half of the cars in the parking lot disappear,” he bragged”
Corvus looked back. All of the cars were still there.
“...In my mind,” continued Thanos.
“Oh, cool!” Replied Corvus. Maybe, he thought, this Thanos kid is all right.
