Robots Don’t Have Pockets
Robots Don’t Have Pockets
Or, so the old saying goes.
And, indeed, that made a problem for the Underwater Robot from the Creator 3-in- 1 Set of the same name: there was nowhere to put the gold nuggets which he kept looking for, and kept occasionally finding, on the ocean bed floor.
This particular ocean bed happened to be more like, well, ocean beds, plural.
So, the role of the ocean bed floors in this production was performed by the two beds found in the tent from the van in the Mia’s Camper Van Set. Not to be left out, Aria the horse from that same set acted in the role of the Stage Manager.
At the beginning of the production, she introduced the audience to the small underwater town of Bilund’s Corners, New Denmark. She explained that, as the Stage Manager of the play her job was introducing this story of the life and times in the North Sea, specifically in the area of the Technictonic Plates. There, on one of the aforementioned ocean beds, lay the submerged remains of a Lego Technic Power Boat. The vessel had been laden with a most rare cargo of 2 pure LEGO gold nuggets. The ship’s owners, the Runagates Family, had foolishly ignored the warning, “ Boat does not Float”, to their detriment, as well as the boat’s premature detrition of it’s glossy red technic color.
The Underwater Robot used it’s grabber to pick up a gold nugget. The robot, whose name was Wilder, really wanted to also use the drill and claw function on it’s left hand. I mean, after all, there was a reason why it was made to be left-handed! So, it looked about for something to, um, claw and then drill. Or, to drill and then claw. It retained an open mind about which order to use.
Wilder spied a Lego Technic Yacht( which he pronounced, ‘ Yach-et ‘) in the other ocean bed. Yes, once again, the Runagates Shipping Line had ignored the admonition, “Does Not Float. “ They read it in More Features, on Shop.lego.com, and then chose to ignore what they read.
Wilder drilled through the Yacht’s hull, and was about to claw at it, when it espied the last thing it expected to espy, a sewing machine from Andrea’s Accessory Store, stowed below at midships.
This was very good news. Wilder immediately used it’s recently installed sewing machine operation chip, and set about to sewing itself a pocket. Now it had a place to hold those gold nuggets! He attached his new pocket to the yellow stud so conveniently placed on his abdomen. Hooray!
Wilder asked Aria if anyone knew how important it was to treasure these little, simple , joyful moments of life. Wilder wondered if anyone really understood the value of life while they lived it. Aria answered, “No. The Builders and Robots, maybe; - they do, some.”
