Night Runner

The Highway Man - Night Runner

"I'm the Highway Man, I make ends meet, like any other man." The Night Runner, who recently has been known as the Highway Man, is a 'Cape' in a slightly looser sense. The original Night Runner was mythologized as a demi god, a figure who wandered the darkest parts of the world, defending the innocent and revenging the wronged; that was centuries ago. Unlike Mr. Infinity, the Night Runner is not technically immortal, but instead is a universal guardian force, who merges with a being of similar fortitude, granting them its abilities, including a resilience to death. When mortally wounded, the Highway Man dissolves into partials, reforming moments later completely unharmed, though maybe very angry. As a defending force, the Highway Man can also instantly summon any weapon from thin air, though he's limited to drawing one weapon at a time. The most recent Night Runner is an 18th century iron worker named Simon, who found himself torn between standing up to oppression, and keeping his head down to just live his life. This conflict would end with him going off into the wilderness for years, trying to separate himself from the conflicts of the world. During that time his neighbor's homestead was attacked by a group of lawless local villagers. Simon couldn't turn away, and when the smoke cleared, he found himself a new man, with a new purpose. Since then, the Night Runner has avidly worked to bring down evil in any form he encounters, especially that of Mr. Infinity. The two near immortals have found conflict any number of times, but have yet to find a way to end their dance.
